A victim of sexual violence at the age of 11 in 1902, Maria Goretti forgave her murderer with her last breath. Beatified in 1947 by Pope Pius XII, he canonized her in 1950. A symbol of mercy, the youngest canonized saint in the Catholic Church, Maria Goretti's relics are on tour in the United States.
