Part of the Milwaukee Ave. Historic District, the 1501 N. Milwaukee Ave. property, under contract to Lipe Properties, is on the Oct. 3 Agenda for the Permit Review Committee of the Chicago Landmarks Commission. Lipe has asked for a review to determine whether the building may be demolished.

Governor Quinn not standing down from fight with legislators despite Judge's ruling

In response to the ruling by Judge Neil Cohen to allow Illinois legislators to receive their paychecks despite no solution to pension reform, Quinn said yesterday, "On behalf of Illinois taxpayers, I intend to appeal the decision and seek a court stay that would prevent any legislative paychecks from being issued until this case is considered by a higher court."

Division Street resurfacing scheduled to begin Sept. 30. in Humboldt Park

Part of the Chicago Department of Transportation's (CDOT) Arterial Street Resurfacing of the 26th Ward, Division St. construction will occur from Western to Cicero Avenues. This is scheduled to begin on Sept. 30, according to 26th Ward Alderman Roberto Maldonado.

While all work on this corridor is scheduled to be completed by  Dec. 6, 2013, temporary "No Parking" signs will be periodically installed as required for each activity.

Chicago's Grand Avenue Design District holds 4th Design Harvest Sept. 28 and 29

The 4th Annual Design Harvest in the Grand Avenue Design District* will be between Wood St. and Damen Ave. on Sept. 28 and 29 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. It will include about a dozen avenue shops and, in a large tent, about 30 vendors from beyond the district.
