Logan Square commercial burglary alert

Commercial burglaries in Logan Square have caused the 14th Police District to issue an alert.

Shattering a window with a rock or a brick to gain entrance to a business was the method in two burglaries in the first half of January in Logan Square. Their target was cash:

  • 3100 block of W. Logan Blvd. on Jan. 10 at 3 a.m.
  • 2600 block of N. Kedzie Ave. on Jan. 15 at 2:28 a.m.
The offenders are unknown.

What you can do

  • Always be aware of your surroundings
  • Pay special attention to any suspicious people loitering in the area
  • Ensure all entry points are secure and locked prior to leaving
  • Report suspicious activity immediately
  • If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
  • Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc...)
  • Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
  • Ensure to have friends and family periodically check on your residence if gone for extended periods of time
  • If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
  • Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
