Police sideline Blue Line train at Damen

North-bound Blue Line train halted at Damen

The victim, 49, had gotten into a verbal altercation on the train with another male passenger, who then stabbed the victim at approximately 11:40 a.m.

Stabbed in the stomach, a man exited a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) O'Hare bound Blue Line train at the Cicero stop and called for help shortly after noon today. The train continued north and was stopped at the Damen station in Wicker Park.

Shutting down the train at the station caused the CTA to re-routed north (O'Hare) bound trains around the delayed train, putting both north and south bound trains operating on the same track around the blockage.

Officers from the Chicago Police Department's (CPD) 14th Police District arrived just before the CPD Forensic mini truck arrived around 1:15 p.m.

A CTA worker indicated that it was blood on the train but no victim.

The stabbing victim was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, 1500 S Fairfield Ave., in stable condition, according to CPD's News Affairs.

Multiple police and CTA cars were parked on Damen and Pierce
