Two successes one more to go: "In The 'Hood"
Opening goers and artists were connecting with the many examples of neighborhoods and each other at the exhibition opening
The In The Hood's heavily attended opening in Jackson Junge Gallery, 1389 N. Milwaukee Ave., on Nov. 10 was followed on Sunday by a crowd at Rick Kogan's story telling session. This Sunday, Nov. 19, 2 to 4 p.m. local Wicker Park historian, Elaine Coorens will lead a free photo walk through the local 'hood.
Photo Walk
With Wicker Park having two Chicago Historic Landmark Districts, there is no end of classic architecture and tales of the past. Sunday's photo walk will give attendees an opportunity to stop and shoot and get photo tips from Women In Focus members, Anne Evans, Adeline Sides and Coorens.
Points emphasized on the walk will be the immigrants' path to prosperity, the focal points of Wicker Park's early development, ghost buildings and people as well as the melding of many cultures. Cameras are not required but will be honored.
Rick Kogan
The quintessential example of a long time "newspaper guy," Kogan had his first byline in the Chicago Sun-Times at the age of 16. Since then he also wrote for the Chicago Daily News and is still part of the Chicago Tribune family, which he joined in 1985. A Chicagoan, he is a WGN radio host, interviewer and author of several books.

"Sidewalk" stories is a collection of stories that have been in the newspaper and in books with photos by Charles Osgood and is the source of many stories he shared with the gallery audience.
Show Opening
"It is amazing how they were able to put this show together as they did." "The seventy pieces flow so well from neighborhood to neighborhood." "With the mix of media, it is so interesting to see the way the neighborhoods are represented." These are only a few of the comments expressed by gallery visitors and artists.
As a result of the opening's success, Chris Jackson Co-Gallery Director and artist Laura Junge along with Kaitlyn Miller, Assistant Gallery Director, are talking about expanding this theme in a future show.
The 70 piece show represents the work of many members of Women In Focus Chicago (WIF) and Pleinair Painters of Chicago (Pleinairs) in addition to submissions from individual artists.
The exhibition will be in the gallery through January 14.
