Former Chicago alderman to speak on ending corruption

Wednesday, March 9, 2011 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Corruption is part of the reason for the financial straits in Chicago and Illinois. In flush times, a modicum of corruption can be borne. But these aren't flush times.

How can we cope with resistant corruption, short of mounting our own Tahrir Square?

Come hear Professor Dick Simpson tell us how.

Professor Simpson will describe--
• What the "culture of corruption" has cost us in human terms,
• How we can cure corruption in Chicago and Illinois,
• How the mayoral election and other recent events plow the ground
for a new "culture of community."

Professor Simpson is the highly regarded head of the Department of Political Science at Circle Campus, a former independent alderman of the 44th Ward,
and a frequently quoted source in local news.

The presentation and discussion will take place on Wednesday, March 9, from 7:00 pm to 8:45 pm at the Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Avenue, Evanston.

Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.
