Happy Birthday Nelson Algren!

Celebrate the legacy and spirit of Wicker Park/Bucktown's most famous literary light on Saturday, March 29, at 2418 W. Bloomingale, just west of Western Ave. and south of the Western/Armitage Blue Line station.

Featured will be presentations by local performers including Donna Blue Lachman; a tribute to American musician/activist Pete Seeger; readings from Algren's works; most importantly a sneak preview of one of two Algren documentaries scheduled for release in the near future.

"The End Is Nothing, The Road Is All," which takes its title from the epitaph on Nelson's gravestone, is a collaborative effort by Denis Mueller and Committee member Marc Blottner. There will also be refreshments, door prizes and the annual singing of "Happy Birthday" to the honored hepghost.

Admission $10; students/seniors $5; but as Nelson always said, "If you're a little short, come anyway!"
