The 8-week series takes the students through the process of design, both in lectures and in weekly hands-on design projects:
• creating a site plan, • determining usage and bed areas, • incorporating architectural influences of the home, • hardscape options, • various plant palettes for sun and shade, • incorporating 4 season interest, and • understanding native and sustainable plant palettes. Each week students work in class on the design focus of that week and are given homework projects to create designs. The students complete: • 6 homework designs, • a design for their chosen project, • and give a semi-formal presentation on the 8th week.
