Holding one of her favorite products, Rosie Fitz was finishing working her last market.
Living what she preaches…"wear your mask"…Rosie Fitz says farewell to the Logan Square Farmers Market as the Market Manager, but she will return as a shopper.
Fitz has taken on the role of operations and events management with HEAL Food Alliance. She met one of their directors while studying environmental studies and food studies at DePaul University. "I knew then that it was where I wanted to work, but I also knew that I did not have the necessary skills."
Five years ago, Fitz started working part time at the Logan Farmers Market, the week before she graduated from school. After four years as operations manager, she moved to the full time market management job last year.
"It has been a treat supporting the market over the last five years," says Fitz. "I think this community, that we have built here, is really inspiring. And, it's proof that a better stronger local food economy can exist. It is happening and it is here every Sunday and it's easy to be a part of…with your mask on…and it's really beautiful."
The Logan Square Farmers Market is open each Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 9 to 10 a.m. is for priority shopping for individuals at high risk. It is located along Logan Blvd. from Milwaukee to Whipple. Entrances are on the southeast corner of Logan and Milwaukee and at Logan and Whipple.
Shopping rules are:
- Masks must be worn at all times, including while waiting in line to enter the market
- No onsite food consumption is allowed
- Please do not linger or plan to meet others in groups to socialize at the market.
This week Katherine Anne Confections and Puna Chocolate Company will be back in the vendor lineup!
