Twenty-eight Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center physicians in "U.S.News and World Report Top Doctors" directory

Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center (SMEMC) was ranked twenty-second out of 121 Chicago metro area hospitals in the U.S. News & World Report's 2011-12 "Best Hospitals" list released on July 19 and nine days later the U.S. News Top Doctors Directory lists twenty-eight SMEMC physicians, representing fifteen medical specialties.

"It's exciting news that 28 of our physicians -- nominated by their colleagues -- are on the 'Top Doctors' list," said Margaret McDermott, executive vice president and CEO, SMEMC. "Consumers can use this convenient database to find outstanding specialists or primary care physicians who can provide exceptional care close to home."

To create the "Top Doctors" directory, U.S. News teamed up with Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a leading publisher of consumer health guides. Castle Connolly solicited nominations from physicians across the country and then a research team reviewed each nominee's achievements, training, appointments and other credentials.
