An island full of living dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, Thurs., July 25, kicks off three different events in Wicker Park, 1425 N. Damen Ave. The second event is Wicker Mic on Friday then Magic Boat puppets on Saturday. All events are FREE.

Jurassic Park brings Jeff Goldblum back to Wicker Park again this summer. Steven Spielberg's 1993 sci-fi adventure thriller will begin at dusk on the grassy field of the Park. It is funded by Wormhole Coffee. There will be free popcorn  too.  The next movie will be The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai  on Aug. 22.

Wicker Mic is an outdoor open mic event located in the heart of Wicker Park, allowing local artists to display their talents. There is no age limit and acts may be music, dance or the spoken word. The Friday evening events run from 6 to 9 p.m. with sign-up at 5:45 p.m. The last two opportunities to participate will be Aug. 23 and Sept. 27.

The Magic Boat Puppet Show will sail into the children's playground area on Saturday for the first time this year.  Children of all ages will have a chance to meet or say hey to Brother Bear, Brother Rabbit, the Captain and their friends in these fun and educational programs. There will be two shows. On is from 9 to 10 and the other 11 a.m. to noon. Checkout some of their antics from last year.

The rest of their dockings will be on Aug. 10 and 24; Sept. 7 and 21; and Oct. 5 and 19.

All events are free in collaboration with the Wicker Park Advisory Council, Chicago Park District and the Friends of the Park.
