Two shot in Ukrainian Village Friday morning

Two people were shot in separate incidents in the Ukrainian Village in the early hours (approximately 1:30 a.m.) of Fri., Sept 14.

A 30-year-old woman was shot in the abdoman during an armed robbery at Damen and Augusta. She was taken to John H. Stroger Hospital in critical condition. The offender fled north.

The second victim was a 27-year-old male who gave the offender his backpack but was then shot in the face. In stable condition, he was also was transported to Stroger in a Fire Department ambulance.

The offender was described as African American in his 20s or 30s, according to John Mirabelli, Chicago Police Department's News Affairs. Both incidents are under investigation. Since the incidents were a few blocks apart within minutes of each other, it is unknown whether they are related.
