Suspect charged in Blue Line robbery

UPDATE:
Bond is set at $250,000. Next court date is Mar. 4. 

Eric Carney, 22, of the 4800 S. block of Chicago Beach Dr. was arrested and charged with the Blue Line robbery which occurred at approximately 6:10 a.m. on Feb. 23.

The 28-year-old female victim was sitting on a Blue Line CTA train and had just pulled out her cell phone as the train was entering the Western station at Milwaukee Ave. Carney entered the train and snatched the phone from the victim and quickly exited the train. A Community Alert was issued and Carney was identified by the surveillance photos and charged accordingly.

Carney is to appear in bond court later today at 26th and California.
